A cellular signal booster is a device that is used to improve the signal strength of a particular area or a building. It can also be installed in vehicles to reduce the chance of network loss while traveling. The Signal booster has mainly three components, the inside antenna, the amplifier, and the external antenna. The external antenna or the outside antenna is connected to a booster that is responsible for attracting mobile signals from the surroundings. The outside antenna is of mainly three types. The following are the types of outside antenna and their uses.

Omni-Directional Antenna

It is one of the most popular types of outside antennas. Most people are using this antenna not only because of its capacity to attract signals from a 360-degree angle but also because of its ease of installation. While fixing other types of antenna, we must find the direction of the nearest mobile tower and the antenna must be placed in that direction for proper reception. On the other hand, the omni directional antenna can be placed in any direction because it will attract signals from all sides. However, if your place is far away from the mobile tower, the Omni antenna will do no good because it covers only a small distance.

Yagi Antenna

It is the most commonly used unidirectional antennas. This device has the capacity to pull signals from a 90-degree radius and will procure signals from longer distances compared to the Omni-directional antenna. This is the best type of antenna that can be used in remote places or places that are lying far away from the mobile tower. However, the main problem with this type of antenna is that it will attract signals of a single carrier at a time. Therefore, if you are installing a booster in a place where there are many people using different cellular carriers, a single yagi antenna will not be effective.

Log Periodic Antenna

It is one of the oldest models of signal booster antenna. Compared to Omni-directional and yagi antennas, this device is the best because it is almost 30 times efficient than the rest. It is commonly used in large organizations and in research facilities to ensure an uninterrupted network connection. It is also effective in attracting signals of multiple carriers. In addition to that, it will also attract different types of networks like 3G and 4G. Due to its high energy requirement and set up cost, it is not preferred for normal usage.

The above mentioned are some of the most commonly used outside antennas. While installing a signal booster, choosing the appropriate type of antenna is important, or else it may not function as required.
